from the Rally

Five routes leaving straight from 2300 State Road 16, ranging from a quick hour-long loop to a full day in the saddle. Ride your own pace, in your own group, whenever you like over the weekend.

1St. Johns River Backroads

Distance: About 35 miles round trip Time: 1–2 hours Difficulty: Easy

The easiest ride on the list, and it leaves right from the front gate. Quiet, low-traffic backroads with a few river overlooks.

  • Head west on State Road 16 out of the rally.
  • Cross the St. Johns River and continue to FL-17; turn left (south).
  • Veer onto CR-209 South through the Bayard Conservation Area to West Tocoi.
  • Retrace the route back to the rally, or explore side roads before heading home.

2A1A Coastal Run to Flagler Beach

Distance: About 70 miles round trip Time: 2–3 hours Difficulty: Easy

The classic Florida coastal cruise. Open ocean views the whole way down, with plenty of beach towns to stop in.

  • Head east into downtown St. Augustine and pick up A1A South.
  • Follow the coast through Crescent Beach and Marineland to Flagler Beach.
  • Grab lunch or a coffee along Flagler's oceanfront strip, then head back north on A1A.

3SR-13 River Cruise to Fruit Cove

Distance: About 65 miles round trip Time: 2–3 hours Difficulty: Easy to moderate

A twisting, tree-lined ride that hugs the banks of the St. Johns River almost the entire way. Sparse traffic and Spanish moss overhead.

  • Head west on State Road 16, then veer right onto CR-13 just before the river.
  • Follow CR-13 north along the riverbank through small river communities.
  • Stop for lunch at Maple Street Biscuit Company in Fruit Cove.
  • Return the way you came, or loop back via FL-13 and Race Track Road.

4Mayport Ferry to Amelia Island

Distance: About 125 miles round trip Time: 4–6 hours Difficulty: Moderate (ferry crossing, more traffic near Jacksonville Beach)

A full day out. Coastal road, a river ferry crossing, two state parks, and a historic small-town finish in Fernandina Beach.

  • Head north on A1A through Vilano Beach and Ponte Vedra.
  • At Mayport, take the St. Johns River Ferry across (small toll, runs about every 30 minutes).
  • Continue north on A1A through Big and Little Talbot Island State Parks.
  • Cross onto Amelia Island and finish in downtown Fernandina Beach before heading back.

5Grand Loop: Coast and Countryside

Distance: About 105 miles Time: 3–5 hours Difficulty: Moderate

The big one. A full loop mixing open coastline, quiet farm country, and a river crossing back into town, if you want to see it all in one ride.

  • Head south from St. Augustine on A1A toward Crescent Beach.
  • Turn right on CR-206 toward Spuds, then north on CR-13A through rural farmland.
  • Continue north on CR-6, then Longleaf Pine Parkway and Roberts Road back to FL-13.
  • Turn right on Race Track Road in Fruit Cove, cross I-95 and FL-1 onto Nocatee Parkway.
  • Rejoin A1A near Jacksonville Beach and ride the coast back down to Vilano Beach.
  • Cross the Usina Bridge back into St. Augustine and pick up State Road 16 back to the rally.

Before you head out: Roads, ferry schedules, and construction can change, so it's worth double-checking your route the morning of. Ride within your ability and your group's slowest rider's comfort level, top off your tank before longer routes, and let someone at the rally know your general plan and when to expect you back.
